WordPress SEO Guide for WordPress Blog?

1- WordPress Sitemap:

A sitemap is an XML file. Which indexes important links (posts, pages, tags, categories) of your blog.

With the help of WordPress Sitemap, the search engine bots effectively discover the content of your blog and index it in the search engine.

WordPress has many sitemap plugins.

But I use Google XML sitemap which is a very old and reliable sitemap plugin.

you have to do is install and activate the Google XML sitemap.

After activating the plugin, you can generate the sitemap for your blog by going to plugin settings.

After generating the sitemap, go to the Google Webmaster tool and Bing Webmaster tool and submit your sitemap after submitting and verifying your blog.  submitting the sitemap, all the internal pages of your blog will start to crawl and index.

2. Control the indexing of your WordPress blog:

This is also a very important factor to get a good ranking in the search engine.

You offer the best content to be indexed in the search engine.

According to Panda updates, google penalizes the domain which contains low-quality content.

Your pages like – tags, categories, author archives are not useful for all search engine indexes.

So a quick and easy way is to add noindex tag to these pages.

You can use Meta robots and WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin to add the Noindex tag.

3. WordPress Permalink: –

Permalink is called in simple terms the URL of a blog post! like-

WordPress’s default permalink is not searched engine friendly. And it also does not have any additional value in the on-page optimization of your blog. So you have to

That’s why you need to use search engine friendly Permalink in your WordPress blog! WordPress has introduced a new option in its latest version in the form of post name Permalink.

Just select your WordPress blog’s Permalink on it. By doing this, the post URL of your WordPress blog will be search engine friendly URL.

4. Use the Image Alt tag and Image Sitemap:

I cannot say with confidence but how many of you people use Image to improve the presentation of your content.

If you do not do this, then you start adding images to the blog post from now on.

If you want to know why we add images to a blog post, then there are many reasons for this. like-

  • Images make your blog post presentation even better.
  • Images make your content pinned to pin on Pinterest.
  • By adding images, you get more organic traffic from images search.
  • You can get extra traffic and free backlinks by adding your original images on Flickr.

Apart from these, there are many more benefits.

The best advantage of adding images to a blog post is that the search engine optimizes your WordPress images as text content.

Due to which your blog content gets a high rank. The search engine uses the bots alt tag to rank any images.

You can use SEO friendly images plugin in WordPress.

This creates an automatic ALT tag of all the images in your blog post.

This is a great plugin. You can create an ALT tag according to the search engine bots to all your images using this plugin.

If you have lots of images in your blog, you can create a sitemap of WordPress images and submit them to Google Webmaster tools.

By doing this, all the images in your blog will be indexed very well. I have used this method.

This method not only gives targeted traffic, but it has also increased the ranking in the search engine of many of my keywords. You can use Smush.it plugin to reduce your image size.

5. Use Unique Meta Title and Description: –

A big SEO mistake that bloggers make a lot, when a blogger writes a new blog post, they do not use Unique Meta Title and Description.

Catchy and Keyword rich Meta title gives you better ranking as well as higher CTR.

And Unique Meta description makes your content a great understanding.

So that the search engines know what your content is about. A Unique Meta description must be less than 160 characters.

Along with this, there should be a call to action in your Meta description. On getting a call to action in the meta description, you will get better CTR.

There are many plugins in WordPress that can do all these things.

You can use All in one SEO plugin or WordPress SEO by Yoast for this.

If you take advice from me about which of the two plugins to use, then I would advise you to use WordPress SEO by Yoast.
